In dentistry, medical aesthetics should not be treated only as a cosmetic change. Masseter botox, gummy smile assessment, and applications around the lips or jawline make sense when muscle activity, smile line, lower-face balance, and expectations are reviewed together.

In some people, clenching habits, heavy loading of the jaw muscles, or the amount of gum display while smiling influence the plan. For that reason, evaluation should not rely on a single photo alone. Facial movement, dental structure, and overall expression need to be considered together, and the limits of suitability should be explained clearly from the start.

The goal is not to promise an exaggerated transformation. A medical aesthetics plan is more appropriately assessed when it aims to preserve natural expression, stay in balance with the current proportions of the face, and fit comfortably into the person’s daily life.
