For patients who smoke, gum and implant evaluation is not limited to staining or mouth odor. Gum bleeding, tartar buildup, pocket depth, oral hygiene, previous treatments, and tissue findings around existing implants are reviewed together.

Smoking may require more careful planning for healing, gum response, and implant-area follow-up in some patients. This does not automatically mean treatment is possible or impossible. The decision depends on examination, imaging when needed, and general health information.

When dental cleaning or periodontal follow-up is discussed, the goal is not only to reduce surface stains. The dentist reviews where plaque and tartar collect, brushing technique, interdental cleaning, and suitable recall intervals for the individual patient.

If implant planning is being considered, bone support, gum thickness, the missing-tooth area, chewing load, and smoking habits are reviewed together. The patient should share frequency of use and any plan to stop or reduce smoking; this is planning information, not a judgment.

For patients around Ankara, Mamak, and Akdere, a useful first step is to note smoking duration, bleeding or odor complaints, older images, current medications, and any previous implant or gum treatments before the appointment.
